Bananas (Musa paradisiaca) and papaya (Carica papaya L.) are climatic fruits that have a soft texture when eaten, after being harvested bananas and papaya experience an increase in respiration rates to cause bananas and papaya experience in respiration rates to cause bananas and papaya continue to experience the ripening process. The purpose of this study was to determine the respiration rate that occurs in banana and papaya fruit by giving different treatments. The method used is the experimental method with 3 treatments, wrapping papaya and banana with plastic wrap, wrapping with newspaper, and without any wrapping and leaving it at room temperature. The results obtained were that bananas and papayas wrapped in newspaper and without any wrapping ripened faster than those wrapped in plastic wrap because the respiration process was inhibited due a lack of air exchange. The conclusion of this research is that packaging packaging is very influential on the ripening of bananas and papayas, banana and papaya fruit bananas and papayas that ripen quickly are fruits wrapped in newspaper and without any wrapping. without any wrapping, banana, and papaya fruit wrapped in plastic
